Peter Jackson Wants to Direct The Hobbit

Yeah! Now this is the kind of news I'm talking about! Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings movies, has reiterated, but this time more concretely, that he wants to properly create his place in Tolkien lore by filming The Hobbit.
A study shows that high-speed Internet customers care more about price than speed. Big surprise. Roadrunner high speed - $45.99 /month? It's time for those prices to come down.

Timeline of Worst Snowstorms

As New York, New England and the East Coast in general prepare, and are currently experiencing, a nasty winter snow storm, check out this timeline of the worst snow storms on record. New York is predicted to get somewhere around 16 inches. Yikes.
Would you replace FDR with Reagan? And would you really want him on the dime? It's interesting to me that this comes up now, since there's so much else going on politically and in the world. You would think Congress would have better things to do.
TGI Fridays goes on the Atkins diet. Makes sense. TGIF has lots of fat, Atkins lets you eat fat. Now if we can only talk about their flair...

Marvel Comics on CD

Now here's a great idea for a Christmas gift: classic Marvel comics on CD-ROM. Some 100 comics strong, this would be a nice addition under any comic lover's tree.
Speaking of gifts, how about the next version of Microsoft Windows, code-named Longhorn? It won't be available for at least a year here in the United States, and it will cost at least $100, and almost certainly more. However, it's now available in Malaysia, and it will only set you back $1.58.
I must be so out of touch with certain aspects of the news. I didn't even know there is going to be an exploration craft landing on Mars next month, nor that NASA is getting nervous about it because of the conditions and predicted weather. I think it's awesome they're going there.

Happy December!

Happy December! Let the merriment begin! Hopefully everyone had a good Thanksgiving and has now recovered gastrointestinally from the deluge of foods and deserts. We now begin the Christmas season in earnest, as evidenced by the countdown timer to the right. Javascript sure is fun when applied properly.
We'll start off this month with some not so great news: there's trouble in the house of mouse. That's right, that bastion of cartoons and animation, Disney. What's Disney as a company without a Disney inside? Roy Disney, the nephew of founder Walt, has resigned his position in the company and wants current chief Michael Eisner to do the same.
How about this for a Christmas gift? A PDA accessory that charges your brain. Sadly, you'll have to go overseas to get it since it's just being introduced here in America and will need FDA approval. Stimulating brain waves...what won't they think of next.
